We relate to Russell and Glen not from what they say but how they react to what each other says. Both leads are up to the task of conveying complex emotions, but Cullen in particular is a great discovery by the filmmakers. He manages to strike the rare balance between sensitivity and masculinity, perfectly in line with the character traits necessary for the plot to work.

For him, he's happy to just be happy and doesn't need anything more than that. Glenn is someone who wants to break boundaries. He doesn't do boyfriends, doesn't want to be tied down…. The top liked review for this movie says that this isn't a "gay" movie, that's it's universal, and honestly that's kind of insulting because fuck you!!!

This movie is a real movie, tailored toward gay men, that doesn't overdo the "proud of it" factor.
